 Microsoft has taken a very odd place an ad Zune HD yesterday, as the date of planning two seasons (summer and fall) away. But there is a reason: the E3 game conference next week. Why should it matter? Because Microsoft has left a lot of things in the non-tas. Here is a brief summary of what we know: OLED 3.3-inch multitouch screen with a resolution 480x272, web browser (IE-based), integration of Xbox Live (Xbox Zune videos will instead of their own), HD radio receiver, TV output and 720p streaming music directly from the Zune store via Wi-Fi Here's what we do not yet know: • The Xbox platform also access the Zune music library? It would be a huge coup for the Xbox platform on the PS3, being able to listen to music on the fly, like the Zune HD. • How this alleged music Xbox support costs? Our feeling is that this will be free, if you have full-location Zune Pass, but you never know. • Is it going the other way? Will you be able to access Xbox Live, game trailers and videos on your Zune? The merger of two repositories? • How about Live Anywhere, the fucking phone / mobile device to access Xbox Live, which was first shown in 2006 that we are still awaiting. Will Zune HD is the device that receives the LAST? • Xbox games on the Zune? Does Microsoft is waiting until E3 to announce? That the Zune will not only games, but the quality of the Xbox? Xbox Live Arcade? It should be reorganized to Zune touchscreen control, of course, but slapping on the Xbox brand, sell some Zunes. • How much does it cost? The OLED touchscreen is probably not cheap, and if this alleged integration Xbox game is true, it means that the expensive equipment in support. • Where is the Zune Phone? Even if all we have assumed above is true, there is a warning: this is not a phone. People do so many pockets, it does not matter how a mobile device is if it is not their phone, which must be taken in the world you left most of the time. Our feeling is that most strangers are due to the fact that Microsoft is tying the two brands together in functionality and to juggle their schedules accordingly. This will enable their E3 announcements more interesting, but in May sacrifice some long-term interest, until the fall Zune HD release.
